Run the Extsetup program to install the initialization software:

1. Start your computer under MS-DOS as usual.

2. At the A> prompt, insert the Installation and Device Drivers Diskette 
   into Drive A.

4. Run Extsetup by typing:  extsetup  and pressing [ENTER].

5. Answer the displayed questions about your disk drive letters.

Your new drive will be assigned the next available letter. For example, if
you have two diskette drives, A and B, the new drive will be C. If you have
two diskette drives and a hard disk (Drive C), the new drive will be D.

6. Restart the computer by pressing the RESET button or [CTRL] + [ALT] +
[DEL]

TROUBLESHOOTING

The following information should help you with any problems you have with the
1.2 MB diskette drive. If you encounter a problem not addressed here, contact
your nearest Radio Shack store or Computer Center. A Radio Shack technician
can help you.

The external floppy drive may be used on LPT2 by adding to the device driver
line in the config.sys file.  The line reads:  device=extdrvr.sys lpt2.

The message "Invalid drive specification" is displayed.

* You are using the wrong drive letter. Check the drive letter.

* You have not run extsetup. Run extsetup and restart the computer.

Extfmt or extdrive will not work. The message "Bad command or file name" is
displayed.

* The command you want to use is not on your system disk. After you run
  extsetup, the extfmt and extdrive command s are on your MS-DOS diskette or
  hard disk directory. Use the MS-DOS copy command to copy the files to the
  current disk or directory, or use the MS-DOS path command to search the
  disk or directory containing the files.

Extfmt or extdrive does not work. The message "The external drive device
driver "EXTDRVR.SYS" is not installed" is displayed.

* The drive software is not installed on your MS-DOS disk. Either config.sys
  or extdrvr.sys might have been deleted. In either case, re-install the
  drive software and restart the computer.

* You loaded MS-DOS from a system disk other that the one extdrive.sys was
  installed on (for example, you might have loaded MS-DOS from a diskette
  after installing extdrvr.sys on a hard disk). Restart the computer, using
  the MS-DOS disk containing extdrvr.sys.

Extfmt does not work. The message "You can't format drive x: with this
program" is displayed.

* You did not specify the correct drive letter. Check the drive letter.

* The external drive was not turned on before MS-DOS was loaded. Be sure that
  the drive power cord is securely plugged in and that the drive is turned
  on.  Then, press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL].

The external drive does not work. The message "An external drive was not
found" is displayed.

* The external drive was not turned on before MS-DOS was loaded. Be sure that
  the drive power cord is securely plugged in and that the drive is turned
  on.    Then, press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL].

* A hardware conflict exists. Be sure that you do not have two printer cards
  set to the same port address.

The printer does not work properly.

* The external drive is not turned on. In some cases, the printer will appear
  to work even when the drive is not turned on. For reliable operation, be
  sure that the drive power cord is securely plugged in and that the drive is
  turned on.

The printer does not work. The message "LPT1: not found" is displayed.

* The external drive was not turned on before MS-DOS was loaded. Be sure that
  the drive power cord is securely plugged in and that the drive is turned
  on.  Then, press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL].
