ShareWare is a system for distribution of software under which people
are free to copy the program and give a copy to their friends. After receiving
a ShareWare program, the user may try it out. If the user decides to keep it,
he/she sends money to the author (registers) and is then eligible for support
and upgrades. Users may also purchase a ShareWare disk from a distributor,
but this purchase is only for the disk and does NOT necessarily register the
user to permanently use it.
In the past, ShareWare was basicly a "pay if you want to" arrangement.
This has been changed with new techniques that allow the program to know if it
is a registered copy or not.
The trial version of "Stellar Police" is what some would call
"FreeWare." People are free to copy and distribute unaltered copies of the
trial version, for profit or as a gift, without owing any form of compensation
to its creators. The trial version only includes the sector of the island
which contains the Drop-Off area. To see other parts of the island, inside
the prison, and to try some of the more expensive weapons for yourself, you
must purchase the complete version of the game.
The complete version of "Stellar Police," which includes all of the
playfields, and more sound effects, IS NEITHER SHAREWARE NOR FREEWARE. You
MAY NOT allow others to play the complete game by copying your installation
disks, or allowing someone else to use them.
ShareWare has been able to provide good software at a low price.
Please register your ShareWare programs and make the system work.
